Boot Camp

AYC Health & Fitness Boot Camps (Quick H.I.I.T*) are 30 minutes long.  This type of training can easily be modified for all ages and fitness levels.  A session consists of the following:

  • 5 minutes for warm-up
  • 20 minutes of full body, high intensity interval training.
  • 5 minutes for cool-down/stretch.

AYC’s 30 minute High Intensity Interval Training workouts burn up to nine times more fat than 45 to 60 minutes of steady state cardiovascular training (treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike).  The reason for the increased is because of EPOC (Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption) or also known as “The Afterburn” from the intensity training.

Boot Camp Frequently Asked Questions

I have never worked out before, I have injuries, I am extremely overweight, I am an avid cyclist or whatever your fitness level. Boot camp is for you! Can I still join this boot camp?

Certainly! AYC Health & Fitness specializes in providing challenging workouts for people at any level…at the same time. We can have a 65 year old with arthritic joints and a 25 year old with 5% body fat working out in the same group and both are challenged at their own level. You can be a triathlete or someone who hasn’t worked out in thirty years. As long as your doctor has given you the okay or recommended you exercise, boot camp can improve your fitness. The AYC registration form provides an initial overview for our trainers of any special requirements or concerns. Your trainer will then work with you on specific modifications or focus areas and can work with them during the workouts.

When I think boot camp, I think of a drill sergeant screaming in my ear. Is this the style of training I will undergo?

When we refer to “boot camps”, we mean high physical intensity and group training. What we don’t mean is being aggressive or demeaning in any way. We will push you, but never through intimidation. As we get to know our clients, we learn what type of encouragement each individual prefers and try our best to cater to that. For some, that may be a pat on the shoulder, for others that may mean a little tough love; )

What is the cost of your boot camps?

That answer depends on a few things. The cost breaks down to less than $20 per class! Every boot camp must be paid in advance in order to ensure your commitment. For guaranteed results we suggest that you participate 3x a week. However, if budget or time is an issue, we also offer packages of 1 or 2x per week.

How many weeks is each Boot Camp?

Our camps are 12 weeks long but you can join at any time. Packages are based on the number of session you plan to attend. We try to schedule an off week around big holiday and common vacation times.

How long is each session? How many sessions are there per week?

ALL boot camp workouts are 30 minutes in length.

The AYCFIT Boot Camps 30-Minute EXPRESS Workout.

  • HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
    • Personal Improvement Routine- 10-15 Minutes: This portion of the training session consists of performing any individual corrective stretching and/or self-massage for excessively sore or tight muscle groups. We highly encourage our clients to utilize this 10-15 minute time frame before the official start of the workout to maximize improvements in performance and to prevent both acute and chronic injuries in both the short-term and long-term.
  • MANDATORY (Quick H.I.I.T – Boot Camp format)
    • Pre-Workout Routine- 5 Minutes: This portion of the training session consists of warm-up exercises that are designed to properly prepare the body for the upcoming workout. Exercises range from prehab exercises designed to activate and strengthen commonly weak and underused muscles to movement prep exercises that seek to dynamically increase muscle flexibility and joint mobility.
    • Workout Routine- 20 Minutes: This portion of the training session consists of exercises organized in an alternating set format (supersets, tri-sets, or circuits) for total body workouts that are designed to stimulate maximal muscle-building and fat loss in minimal time. All exercises will be broken down into three major categories: strength, cardio, and core.

    • Post-Workout Routine- 5 Minutes: This portion of the training session consists of cool-down exercises that focus on corrective stretching and/or self-massage to dramatically improve muscle repair and recovery and to promote optimal muscle and joint health, both in the short-term and long-term.
  • OPTIONAL
Individual Q&A- 10-15 Minutes: This portion of the training session is made available for those clients needing and/or wanting extra special attention. We end each and every session reminding our clients that we are ALWAYS here to answer any questions or concerns about anything relating to their training, nutrition, or supplementation. This is critical because it allows you to provide that one-on-one personal training component to your large group workouts.
What do I wear to the boot camps?

Clothes: Wear comfortable, soft, breathable materials. Please do not wear anything too baggy, as it makes it difficult for trainers to properly analyze your posture and technique during movements.

Shoes: Wear gym shoes with good support, laces (not velcro) and soles that are low to the ground (no platform-like soles).

What do I bring to the camp?

Recommended is a water bottle and sweat towel. No equipment is required as AYC Health & Fitness will provided all boot camp equipment.

Who will be coaching me?

Your coach will be an AYC Health & Fitness Boot Camp approved trainer. All of our AYC trainers have college degrees, are nationally certified and go through a rigorous training process. AYC Health & Fitness founder and head trainer is Greg Justice, MA. Greg will ALWAYS have a large presence at AYC Boot Camp locations and coordinate the continuing education of all AYC trainers to keep them on the cutting-edge of health and fitness.

Will I learn about nutrition?

Any good fitness professional knows that optimal health, performance, and body composition is achieved not only through great workouts, but also and mainly through proper nutrition. We here at AYC Health & Fitness Boot Camps have an online nutrition system with meal plans and grocery lists that have helped our clients meet their goals for health, fitness and weight loss. We will give you the tools to get started on the right track towards a complete health and fitness transformation.

Can I go between boot camp times?

Class size is limited to provide personal attention thus we have some limitation on a flexible schedule. We ask that you attend your reserved session. If know ahead of time let your trainer know and AYC will work with you on what can be accommodated.

Can I join during the middle of a boot camp?

After the first week of boot camp AYC Health & Fitness will allow new members if class size limitation has not been filled and that an initial free consultation session is completed. Our preference will be that personal one-on-one consultation/workout session is with the trainer who teaches the boot camp you hope to attend. The consultation session will put you with one of our AYC trainers to review your goals, the Quick H.I.I.T. format and fitness testing and measures.

The reasoning for the consultation requirements is to ensure familiarity with the Quick H.I.I.T. format. We welcome new class members but need to be fair to current members who have 30 minutes and want to keep the intensity going on their fitness.
